Hello, I finally finished my exams! So now I have more time to write these blog posts. Here’s what I did these last two months!

Finished Pieces

Since Artfight starts in July, I started preparing character references this month. This is probably my most detailed reference sheet yet lol. For the other OC references, I will make them a lot simpler by just doing a full body and colour swatches.

This one was finished just after the previous reference sheet. While I like her finalised design, I’m not happy with the execution of her reference. I think it’s due to how sterile and thin the lineart is. You will see the other reference sheets in my next blog post and future social media posts! I didn’t finish as many references I would’ve liked but I can add more during July.

Crochet

During my exams, I crocheted more than I drew. So I would like to show you some crochet I made during this period.

This Shrek hat by Hooked by Lou turned out super cute! I used up my scrap light green yarn and finished it using my pink yarn from the brand The Women’s Institute. While the pattern was more wordy than I thought was necessary, it was fun. I added a gathered stitch on the brim to control the ruffles a bit more.

This Robot was by Supergurumi. I made it for my dad as a welcome back gift (he was working abroad for a bit) and I managed to finish it within a day. I’m a little sad that my one looks slightly different than the website’s image but that may be due to me doing it wrong. Thankfully, my dad liked it so that’s all that matters.

I made these headphone covers using a tutorial by carorolee on TikTok. I really like how they turned out! The only thing I dislike is the inner headband area as it looks a little messy. In the future, I might decorate it further with ribbons or (possibly corchet) flowers. I have worn it out for a bit – woundn’t recommend for summer but other than that I love them ❤
